Both Gloria and Marta are colleagues teaching at Gunnison High School in Gunnison, Colorado.
Gloria Waggoner has been teaching for 18 years, having taught at GHS since 1994 in the Social Sciences department. Head of the department, she has taught U.S. History, Sociology, Psychology, World History: The Human Experience, Civics, Service Learning, and the Student Leadership Class. She is an active leader on the faculty, supervising all the main school events such as Homecoming, Winter Ball, and Prom. In 1998, Gloria received a Fullbright Fellowship by which she travelled to Kenya, Africa.
Marta Coleman, Ph.D., has been working in education for 32 years having taught at her alma mater, GHS, the last 19 years with Gloria. Marta teaches in the Language Arts department having taught all English classes in grades 9-12. Currently her teaching assignment is English 11, an American literature course, Theory of Knowledge, Film Appreciation, Applying to College, and AP Language and Composition. Marta spent her formative years studying classical piano and today enjoys accompanying the GHS choirs. Marta Coleman has just been awarded the Dr. Dan Tredway Excellence in Teaching Award in 2012.
